A former residence, the Uhland is a very nice hotel. Having stayed in mid-July, the temperature was in the upper 70s and low 80s (21-26C). That made for a very warm room given the lack of AC, and while we did have fans, we were on the first floor – easily accessible from outside. The room itself was nice and we did have a comfortable closed-in porch which we used every night. The only other callout I could make on the room is in regards to the bathroom – very cramped, so much so that one could not close the door while standing in front of the sink or toilet. (I had a friend staying in another room and did not have this issue.) All of the staff we dealt with were great, and all spoke English well if that’s’ a consideration. The hotel does not have a restaurant, per se, but does offer a very nice continental breakfast. There are plenty of good restaurants in walking distance come lunch or dinner time. Unless you’re up for a bit of a hike, I would not consider Uhland a walk from the train station – we did when we got in (thinking it might be closer) but opted for an Uber when we left.

We chose not to stay over at this hotel even though it was prepaid. As three females traveling together, we did not feel comfortable or safe. The gentleman that checked us in was so kind and he truly was distraught to see us leave, but there was nothing he could do to encourage us to stay. I hope they can make improvements to the rooms so they don't have a dirty, creepy vibe. I didn't want to write a bad review due to the manager's (maybe owner?) kind demeanor, but I don't want another group of women or a family to feel the way we did.

Although some parts of the hotel (ie bathroom are outdated) we absolutely loved our stay here. Christine (who was on duty manager when we arrived) was just delightful. So accommodating and helpful. She provided maps, vouchers and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your time. She was like this with every guest. Perfect location too and terrific breakfast

The building is lovely, and the location is very near a subway station There is no garden or patio, though, as advertised. Nor any vegan/vegetarian choices for breakfast, as advertised. The premises are gorgeous - not sure why they need to resort to false advertising. The manager/owner is rude and possibly racist. Or both. Everything I asked for was a brusque no from her, and a yes from the other staff. The rest of the staff were great, and one gentleman in the kitchen seemed a little embarrassed by her rudeness when she told me I couldn't take a cup of coffee to my room. He just handed me a tray to use for the cup of coffee. She shouldn't be in the hospitality business.

Convenient location! A block from Teresianweise. Two Ubahn stops nearby and only one stop from Hauptbahnhof. Quiet hotel in a quiet neighborhood. Nice breakfast. Laundromat nearby. Friendly staff. Our TV and hairdryer did not work but was not a big deal for us. This is a European style hotel with small rooms and small but private bathrooms. That is not a complaint, but Americans should keep this in mind and adjust expectations. We were happy with our choice of this Rick Steve’s recommended hotel.
